About Pilates Yard

Pilates Yard offers high-quality private pilates tuition from our London home studio.
Our approach is tailored to each client’s individual needs for the simple reason that everybody’s body is different.

Pilates can help you get fit, improve your core strength, flexibility and posture as well as prevent strains, back pain and recover from muscle injuries.
We teach classical techniques adhering to the original principals set down in the works of Joseph Pilates (1883-1967).
Our studio is fully equipped with a Reformer, Chair and High Barrel. We are based in SW15 between Putney and Barnes.

About Jung-Hwa

Pilates Yard is run by Jung-Hwa Koo, a classical pilates teacher from South Korea with many years of experience.

Her love of movement began young. She studied drama in Seoul before moving to Europe to study corporeal mime at The Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique. As a post-graduate mime student she discovered pilates which helped her to increase her knowledge of movement and the human body.

She completed a comprehensive pilates training course in London before graduating from the Kathy Grant Heritage Training Program, run by the renowned American teacher Cara Reeser.

Jung-Hwa has undertaken regular workshops from other leading international pilates instructors as part of her continuous professional development.

As well as being qualified to teach using the full range of pilates equipment (reformer, chair, cadillac, mat etc.) across all levels of ability, she has completed Pre and Post Natal pilates courses and achieved a distinction in her practical examinations for sports massage (level 4 diploma course) at St Mary’s University in London.

Her knowledge of anatomy and movement, and her individually-tailored style of teaching will help you improve your flexibility, strengthen your muscles and give you a great workout. She is a member of the Complementary Therapists Association (CTHA).
